U2 Grab Top Awards in Hot Press Poll

18 Feb 2001
U2 have won a clutch of awards in the annual Hot Press Readers Poll. The band claimed the top spot in the 'Irish Group' category and Bono took 'Best Male Singer' while All That You Can't Leave Behind was voted "Best Album".

U2, who won most votes overall in the poll, also picked up two spots in the top ten Singles, the No.5 spot for Best Live Act (not bad considering they didn't play in Ireland in 2000) while Bono also took 'Best Songwriter'.

Hot Press is the leading Irish music weekly, and was covering U2's music before any other title picked up on the band.
