Two For One

13 Dec 2005
If you loved the duet of One, that Mary J Blige and Bono performed for the Hurricane Katrina benefit recently, you can find them singing it together on Mary J's new record.

The 'Queen of Hip Hop Soul' has recorded some pretty cool duets in the past with artists like Elton John, George Michael and Dr Dre. On 'The Breakthrough', just out, she comes up with another cool partnership, this time with Bono.

Turns out that Mary sang 'One' at a tribute show a few years back and told Universal's Jimmy Iovine that she wanted to record it someday. In September the opportunity arose when Mary and Bono performed the song live for the televised Hurricane Katrina benefit show. When she was in the studio working on her album, Iovine reminded her that she had wanted to record it and so she did - her vocals are from the studio, Bono's are from the Katrina show.

The Breakthrough is out in the UK today and in the US next week.
