A high school senior back in '87, I skipped classes that day to hang out at the Summit, where U2 would be performing that evening. I had my tickets, but hoped to meet the band. Amazingly, when a black limo pulled up, out stepped Bono, who very generously spent time with twenty or thirty fans who, like myself, had hoped to shake his hand. I actually gave him a cassette tape of my garage band, which I am still a bit embarrassed by, but what I remember most was how thoughtful he was, asking me what instrument I played, what the name of my band was. He couldn't have been kinder, and that sense of generosity has really stayed with me all these years. Thanks, Bono.
