My First U2 Concert
This was my first U2 concert and my story is almost identical to denmark98's. I lost my father when I was 14 years old, on July 4, 1984. I had just turned 14 a month prior to his passing. We drove from our home in Pittsburgh to stay at my brother's house, in West Orange, NJ, for this show. Still obviously mourning my dad's passing, this concert erased everything that was on my mind during this time of my life and took me to a place that I'll never forget. It was this night at Brendan Byrne Arena that U2 became my all-time favorite band. I've never seen a band with this much energy and cohesion. Since that night, I've seen U2 in six other tours, all in Pittsburgh. I still love this band as much now, at the age of 52, as I did when I was 14. Thank you, Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry!

My First U2 Concert
I was 14 yrs old and say up in the rafters with my good friend and my uncle that escorted us to the concerted. As a 14 yr. old and as one who recently lost a parent, U2's music had become a pivotal part of my life and seeing them in concert(my first concert) was extremely special for me. My uncle whom worked in a studio told me that there was too much static in the speakers and it helped to bring down the quality of the live show. I, however was deeply entranced by the performance that U2 put on and felt solidarity with the fans around me when we were singing to their songs. It could be said that at that time U2 was still "hungry" for success and breakthrough and therefore gave absolute best to play live. Glad to have been there, glad to have fallen in love with U2 at that time.
