This was my first U2 show. I was 22 and had been a fierce traditional rock n roll fan until the alternative rock of bands like U2, The Alarm and Simple Minds (my three leaf clover) were first heard on the local FM Alternative Rock station KROQ. On this night I was part of a different set of friends who were open to the new sound of rock. This night we were together to witness arguably the greatest rock n roll band of all time.
Watching Bono climb up and around the edge of the upper level of the arena while greeting fans and daring to be close to them was mesmerizing. Will never forget the experience and never lose the fondness for U2.

First U2 show!
I was at the Sports Arena show with my neighbor
Ronnie. His mother had reservations about him going with me since he was was still in high school and I was one year removed. I remember there was no seats, it was general admission. I believe that I read there was about 3000 fans. I always say that I seen the band before they made it big. I believe the Alarm opend up for them. The Alarm also became one of my favorite bands of the time and till this day still a fan of both bands. 27 years later, I'll be at Montreal and NYC in 2010 to see the boys with my girlfriend.
