First time to see U2. Bought tickets for $7 at a record store (with no service charge -- imagine that). These guys lit up the Opry Hall, exhausting the entire catalog of both Boy and October, as well as a couple of covers -- including a Hendrix tune, for which they pulled some guy out of the audience to riff with the band. The energy level was astonishing. As I recall, they played "I Will Follow" twice during the regular set. After two rousing encores, the house lights came on and, naturally, the thoroughly entertained and amazed crowd started to shuffle toward the exits. At that point, Bono came bounding back onto the stage, shouting "We're not done yet." The house lights went back down as the band emerged for a third and final encore, ripping into "I Will Follow" for an absolutely triumphant finish. Unbelievable. Unforgettable.
