Bono is among the '100 People Who Shape Our World' according to the new issue of Time Magazine.

An eclectic list of 'artists and entertainers', 'scientists and thinkers', 'leaders and revolutionaries' and 'builders and titans' features Bono amongst its 'heroes and pioneers.'

These are '100 men and women whose power, talent or moral example is transforming our world.' says Time. See the complete list.

Jesse Helms, the former Senator from North Carolina, pays tribute to Bono's work as an activist for a better political deal for the world's poorest countries.

'When I was first told in 2000 that Bono wanted to meet with me to talk about boosting U.S. aid to Africa, I didn't know who he was. But my Senate staff certainly did. After so many years in Washington, I had met enough people to quickly figure out who is genuine and who is there for show....'
