'Adding more?'

25 Mar 2010659
Speaking to Dave Fanning of Irelands's 2FM a few weeks back, Edge said the band had begun thinking about this year's shows. Dave mentioned that in 2009 there was always five or six songs from No Line on the Horizon: 'Would you keep that many?

'We were talking about adding more,' said Edge, in a decidedly enigmatic tone. 'Changing out some of the songs...'

And that was it, the subject was closed, he was giving nothing else away. But we can dream can't we ? So here's the thing: if you could add in a song from 'No Line' which wasn't a regular in the set last year ... what would it be?

And while you're musing on that one, what song from any earlier album, which didn't feature in 2009, would you love to hear in the mix this time around ?

Answers in the box below please. One different track from No Line, one other track from any earlier album. (And why, if you have the time...)

(If your memory needs refreshing on the songs the band were performing last year, check the 2009 dates and click on any city to see the set list.)

A Long Shot
From the New Record (Stand Up Comedy) From an old Record (Tomorrow) I can just imagine the room being dark and hearing the first notes/ talking voices in the beginning of Tomorrow over the PA system, then bono coming out along in the dark singing the first few verses, then the whole Band chimes in and the Sound/lights explode into the heavy part of the song towards the end! Something about the Uilleann pipes in that song could make an audience feel it in the soul! Beautiful under rated song!!!!

Mixed stuff
Would love to hear more Achtung Baby, Zooropa or Pop stuff, for example The Fly, Until The End, Even better, Stay, Please or Discotheque mixed with old songs, like Out of control, Gloria, 11o'clock, Bad, In Gods Country or New Years Day...

Bring Back 'New Years Day'!
Would love to hear 'New Years Day'. My favorite U2 song. I know it's an oldie! They didn't play it Vancouver in 2009 and even though that was a fantastic concert, I was disappointed. Hoping they add it to the list for the July 3rd concert in Toronto!

More Power
I would I like to hear Stand up Comedy or Fez which I think would make a great show opener. As far as past songs, I think Last Night on Earth would look awesome on this stage.

Adding any song to the set is like inserting another diamond to the crown, they all shine...I would really like to hear " Mercy " which I think would fit in perfectly with their energy on stage

....Set your Spirit FREE!
I would love to hear the song "Bad". The sound in the beginning is classic U2. You can't mistake that for any other band. So let it go.....and so to fade away...I'm wide awake, I'm not sleeping. That's how I felt in October when I finally went to see them for the first time after enjoying their music for almost 30 years!! Fez-Being born is one of my favorites from the new album. I get the chills every time I hear it.

The Fly
I'm not thrilled with any of the songs on No Line so it doesn't matter to me what they take our or leave in. As for previous albums, The Fly is always a great song live, especially with the text-based video sequence that has become synonymous with it being performed.

FEZ and Window in the Skies
I think that FEZ-Being Born should be added, as well as Window in the Skies. Honestly, I think that more songs should have been played off of NLOTH from the very start, and I'd hate to see any of them go, especially Unknown Caller. That one, along with the title track itself, wasn't played at the gig I saw (FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland), and I heard they were absolutely amazing live (but it's U2, could you expect any less?). Choosing only one other song to add is a bit of a toughie, but I love the uniqueness that Being Born offered to the album and think that its high energy would make it ideal for a 360 show. It also really fits in with the shows concept of "What time is it in the world?" In addition, "Window in the Skies" is a simply amazing song. I realize that it would be a real longshot, but I would pay hundreds of dollars to see just that one song played live, a luxury only a select few experienced at the end of the Vertigo tour. To sum it up in one word, the song is beautiful. Though, it's not really easy to choose only one song for each. "Stand Up Comedy" would also be great, as many people have already stated in this thread. And has anyone thought about "Original of the Species?" That song is easily the best off of HTDAAB, and I think it would work really nicely as the acoustic song instead of Stuck in a Moment or Stay (Faraway, So Close!). It would also be pretty great to see a song from Pop (Mofo or Discotheque would be pretty cool, especially in the encore setup) - it's barely even been referenced this tour.
