Stories of Surrender in Italy: For One Night Only

Bono is bringing his critically acclaimed show 'Stories of Surrender' to Italy for the first time for one performance only at the oldest opera house in the world, Teatro di San Carlo, in Naples on Saturday 13th May

Tickets go on sale this Friday, 21st April (10am CET) with a presale to U2.com subscribers taking place tomorrow, Wednesday April 19th (10am – 6pm). U2.com subscribers will be emailed in advance.

Situated across the Bay of Naples from Sorrento, Teatro di San Carlo is the oldest continuously active venue for opera in the world having opened in 1737, decades before either Milan’s La Scala or Venice’s La Fenice, with the beautiful Neoclassical building recognized by UNESCO as part of the World Heritage Site at the heart of this historic city. Bono will be joined onstage for this very special show at Teatro di San Carlo by musicians Gemma Doherty (Harp, Keyboard, Vocals) and Kate Ellis (Cello, Keyboard, Vocals), as well as Musical Director Jacknife Lee.

The show will be filmed and the audience will be encouraged to celebrate the storied surroundings of this legendary opera house with an invitation to wear formal attire for this one-off evening of “words, music and some mischief...” in a truly extraordinary venue.

The announcement from Live Nation comes as Bono makes a return – due to overwhelming demand - to the Beacon Theatre, New York for 11 performances which follow last year’s hugely successful European and North American run of ‘Stories of Surrender’, a show that has left both audiences and critics cheering for more and illustrates Bono’s role as bandleader and activist, as well as the remarkable lives entwined with his own. This is a life, alive and very present, on stage.

'Stories of Surrender' is produced by Live Nation and directed by Willie Williams and marks the release of 'SURRENDER: 40 Songs, One Story', the New York Times and Sunday Times best-selling memoir by Bono - artist, activist and U2 lead singer. The memoir sees one of the world's most iconic artists write for the first time about what and who brought him success, while at the same time revealing his "...childhood insecurity, which is your only security" as a performer, and the faith that sustains him.
