Model Catwalk Debut

28 Jan 2003
Edge strutted his stuff, Larry did introductions, Helena wore Becks and Naomi went with a Campbell's soup tin at the Brown Thomas International Fashion Show.

The 'world's biggest fashion show' featured a galaxy of celebrity star models and special guests wearing the most prestigious designer labels. Standouts included Helena Christensen modelling a new hat in the form of David Beckham's head, one of a number created by Irish designer Philip Treacy. Naomi Campbell showed off a hat which was a picture of herself with a Campbell's soup tin while Jerry Hall modelled an Andy Warhol-style banana.

Hosted by Cat Deeley, the evening was organised by Ali Hewson, drew more than 6,000 people and is likely to raise in excess of £700,000 for three charities Chernobyl Children's Project, Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the Christina Noble Foundation.

Last year it was Larry doing the modelling, this time he was full of praise for Edge.
'I think The Edge was brilliant on the catwalk tonight. I did it last year and I jumped off the stage. Now I'm banned. But as much as I love the boys here tonight. You can't beat the girls.'

Of the three beneficiary charities, the Chernobyl Childrens Project is one that U2 have supported for many years. More here www.adiccp.org
