'Love This Town.'

New York.  Day off.

I confess to finding myself ever so slightly wasted this morning, going through the motions in a bit of a blur. I had some deathly dull chores to get done, most notably laundry and receipts. My big black tour laundry bag has been full for a while and I’ve just been jamming it, unopened, into my suitcase for the last couple of moves. I left it with the local drop-off place and returned to the hotel, only to receive a call from the laundry shortly afterwards.  'Ah.. Mr Williams?', 'Yes…', 'Ah, this is 63rd St. Fluff and Fold.  We are happy to do this laundry for you, but thought we should let you know that the bag you left is full of already clean, folded clothing…'   So I went and retrieved it.  Oh the shame.  Still, at least I have a clean wardrobe with no effort and minimum outlay.

My receipts, sadly, did not do themselves so I spent much of the afternoon wading through piles of crumbled paper.  I don’t take a cash float from the tour accountants, finding it easier to just spend my own money and then get reimbursed (my credit’s pretty good round here).  It’s been a while since I turned in expense receipts so was quite shocked to find that all these little bits and pieces of personal outlay totalled over a thousand dollars. Batteries, cab fares, blank CDs… lots of insignificant amounts coming to a rather impressive total, so at least there was a happy finish to an otherwise tedious afternoon.

Had dinner with friends in the West Village, being my first escape from midtown since we got here. It was a beautiful night and I enjoyed just strolling, people-watching, window shopping.  It was a real treat. Love this town.
