Justice For Kirsty

10 Nov 2003
The campaign to get justice for the late singer-songwriter Kirsty MacColl is gathering pace.

MacColl, the acclaimed singer and writer, was killed by a power boat at the age of 41 whilst scuba diving with her sons in a restricted diving area off Cozumel, Mexico in December 2000.

Three years later, no-one has been made accountable to the satisfaction of her family and friends.

Kirsty was a friend of U2 since their earliest days and for many years was the partner of the band's longtime producer Steve Lillywhite. For more on Kirsty and the U2 connection read our earlier story here.

Now Kirsty's mum Jean is leading a campaign which is calling on the President of Mexico to conduct a Judicial Review. Supporters are being invited to visit the Justice For Kirsty website and join the appeal to the President.

Later this month Jean will be travelling to Mexico to increase the pressure for creating a full and impartial investigation. The campaign sitewww.justiceforkirsty.org is promoting a letter and email campaign which supporters can use to raise awareness of the issue.
