U2's latest single, Elevation, is released in a number of European countries today, July 2nd.

Australia are first out of the blocks. The new single was released last week and this morning Elevation shot straight in at No. 6.

The track, the fourth single to be released from All That You Can't Leave Behind, is set for Japanese release on Wednesday and for Irish and UK release on July 16th.

The single will be released in Sweden, Denmark and Finland on July 9th, in France on July 17th. Release dates for Portugal and Spain are still to be confirmed.

Elevation features on the soundtrack to this summer's Hollywood blockbuster Tomb Raider and the video was filmed in Los Angeles on the set of Tomb Raider, directed by Joseph Kahn.

The new single will be available on various CD formats all featuring the Tomb Raider Mix of Elevation.

In the UK, there are two additional mixes of Elevation on CD1; the Escalation Mix (by Jon Carter) and the Influx Remix (by Leo Pearson and Johnny Moy). CD2, which is a limited edition, is backed with two live tracks, a version of Last Night On Earth from Mexico City, and Johnny Cash's Don't Take Your Guns To Town, recorded in Dublin as a tribute to its composer; it also comes with a double sided poster featuring photography by Anton Corbijn and Andrew Macpherson.

For the first time, U2 are releasing a DVD of the new single in the UK, featuring the Elevation promo video and exclusive interviews with members of the band.

The worldwide hits Beautiful Day and Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of were the first singles to be released from All That You Can't Leave behind - but in Canada Walk On was also released - and hit the top spot.

U2 are in the middle of a two week break from their sell-out Elevation Tour. This weekend they kick off the opening leg of the European tour in Copenhagen.
