Editors Choice, at Q Awards

31 Oct 2001
U2 were awarded the Editors Choice at the Q Awards for their 'consistent success'.

Oxford-based Radiohead walked off with the 'Best Band In The World' category beating off stiff competition from U2, REM, Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics and Travis.

Other winners at this year's show, held at the Park Lane Hotel in central London, included Ash, whose single Burn Baby Burn was named Best Single, and Scots quartet Travis who added the Best Album title to best single gong they collected last year.

Manic Street Preachers were named Best Live Act, while the Best Newcomer Award went to Lancashire's Starsailor. Gorillaz, the cartoon band formed by Blur frontman Damon Albarn and illustrator Jamie Hewlett, beat competition from DJ Fatboy Slim to collect the award for Best Video for Clint Eastwood. Brian Eno was recognised with this year's Special Award, while Kate Bush collected the Classic Songwriter title.

Don't forget, there is still time to vote for U2 who are nominated for this year's MTV Europe Awards. You can also vote for U2.Com as best band website.

U2 are nominated for Best Group, Best Album, Best Rock Act and best Web Site.
