Cardiff Travel Tips

Got tickets for the show at the Millennium Stadium ? Here's best travel advice.

The good folk at Cardiff City Council have been in touch with some smart advice for fans planning to come to the show tonight. As well as a sell-out U2 show the city, which has a reputation for being pretty busy, is also hosting a charity fun run today.

The brief version of the advice is: 'plan your journey carefully, arrive early and use public transport, car share or the city's park and ride sites where possible.'

The detail goes like this:
If you are coming to Cardiff by car then car share and use the Council's park and ride sites as most of the city centre will be closed to traffic from 6.30pm until 11.30pm. These are accessed from junction 33 of the M4 and motorists should follow the signs to Leckwith (YELLOW CAR PARK), Bessemer Fruit Market (BROWN CAR PARK) and County Hall (GREEN CAR PARK).

Coaches and mini-buses will be allocated space in Museum Ave and should leave the M4 at junction 32.

The drop-off point for Leckwith is Tresillian Way at the rear of the train station;
Bessemer Fruit Market is Callaghan Square lay-by adjacent to Eversheds and County Hall is Bute Terrace at the rear of the Ice Rink. The cost is £5.

Leckwith car park will be staffed from 10:30am, open at 11am with the first bus at 11:30am. All other sites will open later on in the day at approximately 4:30pm. The last bus will leave the pick-up point at midnight, with car parks closing at 12:30am.

Due to the city centre road closures, the public are advised that ALL buses travelling in, out and around the city WILL be affected.
