Bono is among six nominees for 'European Campaigner of the Year'.
Along with his fellow anti-poverty campaigner Bob Geldof, Bono is nominated 'for making the future of Africa the concern of almost everyone.'
Both are also among fifty names nominated for 'European of the Year'.
Voting is now open.
Other nominees in the list of politicians, heads of state and activists, include Dutch politician and women's rights activits Ayaan Hirsi Ali, British PM Tony Blair and German leader Gerhard Schröder.
