BOY Cover In Rolling Stone Top Fifty

18 Feb 2002
The cover of BOY from 1979 is one of the Top Fifty Album Covers nominated in a new poll at Rolling Stone Magazine.

Selecting fifty album covers from artists including The Clash, The Beatles, Madonna and Elvis, Rolling Stone suggests that unlike a book 'you CAN judge an album by its cover.'

'It's here that artists leave clues for attentive fans, providing insight into the music before a single note is heard. Whether it's a simple band photograph or an elaborate interpretive painting, an album's art is often as memorable its songs.'

Check out the fifty album covers nominated by Rolling Stone and vote for the one you think is the best.

'Going back through the early stuff,' said Edge, speaking to Q Magazine in 1998, 'Nothing really horrified me. Particularly on Boy, I can hear a bit of the Banshees and The Buzzcocks and some hint of The Skids, as well as - ha ha - some wildly original ideas of our own... The shocking thing is that well before we had a right to, we had this belief that we would become a very succesful band. From the beginning Adam never doubted that we would make it big.'
