"You’re The Best Thing About Me" - The Video

"Best Thing" - The Video - Watch it now.

'I can see it all so clearly
I can see what you can't see
I can see you love her loudly
When she needs you quietly…'

U2 first played New York City in 1980... and they keep coming back.

The new video for "You’re The Best Thing About Me," directed by Jonas Åkerlund, sees band members reveling in the sights and sounds of New York City where, as a young Dublin four-piece, they played their first U.S. club gig in December 1980, beginning a love affair with the city which has endured for almost 40 years.

Shot earlier this month while the band were on tour and featuring U2 in performance, the video is a fitting backdrop for "You're The Best Thing About Me" – Bono's love letter to his wife Ali – and serves as a visual tribute to New York,  a serenade to the city's iconic symbols of American compassion and liberty.

'I lift my lamp beside the golden door...'

Good boost for NY from its special fans
Great song in a great city! ... but let me walk you through a part of Ireland you do not know, a place where there are songs unborn and people unheard! You do us proud ... from a rainy night in Dublin. Go néiri an bothar libh i gconaí!

Fantastic tribute to NYC (& Alli too!!)
The best band in the world celebrating my home town in the best way -- with fans on the streets -- is phenomenal and surreal!! So fun to watch. Thank you Bono, Edge, Larry & Adam!!

Absolutely brilliant!
I love the new single as well as the video. Yes it's great to see the band interact with the public and wish I was there at the right place in the right time. I've been a fan for 35 years and never been lucky enough to meet them. Their music has been a massive part of my life, been there at my lowest moments as well as my happiest. I went to see them in London back in July, once with a friend and another time with my boy for his first concert experience, how about that! The band still rock, everybody on their feet, such a thrill to be part of their Tour every time. Never fail! EVER! Best band, best live gig by far. JP

I really like this video. It does not have a lot to do with the song but it's a nice little tribute to New York and some of the band's earlier videos, such as 'I Still haven't Found What I'm Looking For', 'The Sweetest Thing', 'Desire', 'City Of Blinding Lights' and 'Where The Streets Have No Name'. There's even a bit of a blood red sky in there too!

Sorry! Not impressed! :(
Just not all that impressed. Good song but average video. Pretty much like the show I saw in Dallas at Jerry's world. No energy by the band. Seemed like a job. You guys were not having fun. If you were, you sure didn't show it. Especially Larry. Seemed very unhappy. I have to say that Adam did seem to be having a good time for the most part. And Bono perked up a little near the end of the show. Oh, by the way, there were two men in the crowd that were holding up a young girl in a wheel chair right next to the runway. Right next to where Bono was walking. He never once looked down at here or acknowledged her. He either had his head up his a** so far that he wasn't looking out at the crowd or else he just completely ignored her because she was literally right there in front of him. There is no way he could have missed her. Also, Fan club pre-sale tickets in the Red Zone were a complete ripoff. The runway extending from the stage was not in the center. If you were facing the stage, the runway was left of center. The Red Zone standing room GA tickets were on this side of the runway. Since it was so far to the left of the stage, when you were standing there, you could not even see the band on the stage. The only way to see them was to go all the way to the back of the Red Zone next to the fence separating the Red Zone from the least expensive GA floor tickets. Or just wait for them to walk out on the runway. Red Zone tickets were around $300 or $350 each. GA floor tickets were either $35 or $70. Either way, the GA floor ticket for $70 was actually a much better view than the $300 Red Zone. Other than some of the money going to charity, it was a complete rip-off. It could have been great if they had put the Red Zone on the other side of the runway where you could actually see what was going on. I just don't understand their thinking on this. Made absolutely no sense to me. Thanks for listening. Peace.

Now I get it!
Fab song and fantastic video guys! Pairing the song to iconic scenes of the statue of liberty along with the quotes from Emma Lazarus brings an entirely new meaning your song. You guys are true masters of metaphors and allegories. Thank you for reminding us what it means to be human. Cant' wait to see what you guys have up your sleeves next!
