11 Feb 2001
Voters in a Billboard.com poll to find the record of 2000 have decided by a big majority that U2's Beautiful Day should win at the upcoming Grammy Awards.

The poll, part of Billboard.com's Grammy preparations, offered fans the chance to vote for their choices in several Grammy categories. Beautiful Day, nominated for Record of the Year at the awards later this month, drew a huge 53.8% of 8,842 votes cast, easily beating next closest competitors, Madonna's "Music" (16.1%) and Destiny's Child's "Say My Name" (15%).

Then came 'N Sync's "Bye Bye Bye," with 9.4% of the vote, and best new artist nominee Macy Gray's "I Try," which drew 5.7%.

Jill Scott was most popular choice to win in the best new artist category.
