Edge's Gibson Les Paul, Lennon's sunglasses, Springsteen's hand-written lyrics and a signed sax from Bill Clinton are among 200 pieces of music memorabilia in the Icons of Music Auction .
The event will raise funds for Music Rising and also features a Tom Tom drum from Larry and a bass guitar from Adam. It takes place on April 21st at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, New York.
Edge, who announced the auction today, said of his 1975 Gibson Les Paul: "I wanted that Steve Jones 'Never Mind The Bollox' sound. I got the same guitar right down to the colour. I never could get that sound, but I found a bunch of songs in this instrument, and have used it ever since, on tour and in the studio."
Also under the hammer are a seven-page handwritten love letter from Janis Joplin to her boyfriend, a Jimi Hendrix guitar, an Elvis Presley early recording contract, Kurt Cobain's MTV Video Music Award for Nirvana, Paul McCartney hand-painted Epiphone Texan Guitar and a Rolling Stones' signed Gibson Les Paul Music Rising Guitar.
